High profitability of leasing land for a solar park

By leasing land for a solar park, you not only contribute to enabling a larger share of green fossil-free electricity in the Swedish electricity system, it is also a way to create profitability in low-productive land.

Increase the value of your land

Many farms today have land that cannot be farmed or is not used optimally for other reasons. There are opportunities to create a higher profitability by leasing out to a solar park. We are mainly looking for easy-to-work land in southern and central Sweden, but we don’t rule out any land before taking a good look at the conditions.

Both small and large lands of interest

Getting to scale is a prerequisite for building competitive solar parks. For this, we need at least 10 hectares of land, which in turn provides the opportunity to build a solar park of about five megawatts. However, we are also looking at smaller parcels as smaller parks can be connected to each other and thus still provide great value to the grid. Either way, the land should be located close to the sea and large lakes where it is usually sunnier than inland.

Easy-to-work soil makes the job go fast

Soil that is easy to pile up is desirable, as the assembly equipment is piled into the ground at a depth of around one and a half meters (exact dimensions depend on the firmness of the soil). The easier it is to drive piles into the ground, the better for the economics of the project. For example, if there is a lot of rock in the ground, work stops and sometimes concrete foundations have to be added.

What is required?

Proximity to a Grid Substation

The electricity generated in a solar park is fed into the local grid through a production agreement. Therefore, it is crucial for the land to be located near existing grid substations to avoid costly cable installations. Additionally, the substation must have sufficient connection capacity to handle the production.

Explore the Opportunities with Solar Parks

Developing solar parks is the most efficient and cost-effective way to expand Sweden’s electricity grid. With our experience as the full-service contractor for Sweden’s largest solar park, we understand the strong investment interest and broad appeal to landowners considering leasing land for solar panels.

Solar energy will become a central part of Sweden’s future electricity system. Currently, hydropower primarily manages the daily peaks in electricity consumption. Solar energy can effectively reduce the strain on power grids, especially during daylight hours when activity is at its highest. Furthermore, extensive use of solar energy during the summer months can help conserve hydropower resources, allowing for full reservoirs as we enter the winter season.

Example

Below you will find references and examples of recent solar farm installations we have done.

I can highly recommend Energy Engagement. Good design, professionally executed installation and the plant produces something more than forecast when I check the first year production.
Very professional at all stages. very happy with everything. Promised kWh is good (almost in year 3). Knowledgeable and dedicated staff. Highly recommended!
I believe that the facility is one of the best investments we have made. I estimate that we will reduce our electricity costs by up to 50% on an annual basis.
