HSB’s solar park outside Strängnäs has now been inaugurated. With 35 hectares and an energy production equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly 5,000 apartments, it is the largest solar park in Sweden.

Södermanland County Governor Beatrice Ask gave the opening speech when HSB’s solar cell park along the E4 highway outside Strängnäs opened for the first time to interested parties.

– The solar park in Strängnäs is a significant step into the future. The investment made by HSB Södermanland means that many residents can be offered really good electricity that reduces the climate impact of electricity production. Many want to contribute to the realization of Sweden’s climate policy goals, but Strängnäs’ solar park looks set to be the largest in Sweden with 41,600 solar panels in the first phase. And it is a concrete investment that makes a difference,” says Beatrice Ask.

The park will be Sweden’s largest with a total installed capacity of 14 megawatts and an electricity production capacity of 13,000,000 kWh, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 4,650 apartments, in the first phase. It is primarily housing associations in HSB Södermanland that have been offered to buy shares in the park.
